APP NOCTIUM

« PLAYER INFORMATION »

Name: Pixle
Are you over 18?: Y
Contact: pixle
Other characters, if any: Yu Narukami

« CHARACTER INFORMATION »

Character: Hank Anderson
Canon: Detroit Become Human
Canon point: End Game, Hugging Connor by the Chicken Feed. (Due to Detroit having multiple paths, this is the best ending I laid out a path here + Mask or Menance CRAU)
OU or AU?: AU
Age: 53
Species: Human

AU clarification:
►When Hank arrived in MoM his first reaction was to search for Connor and see if he was here at all and also complain about his newly assigned job (Cyber Security Consultant). (Thread here) Thankfully, it turned out he had arrived a little earlier than him, and already had many android friends who were eager to meet Hank or see who he was and why he was asking for Connor in the first place. Hilariously, Hank ended up forming better relationships with other androids than humans.

► He becomes a registered Hero (characters do not have to register but to work with the government, they need to be) so that he can quit the job they gave him and work as a police officer instead.

► Hank also finds out that there is no thirium in that world, and Connor and Danger were attempting to make an alternate for the android (and then later for Markus when he showed up). Of course Hank is very calm about this...aka he freaks out and offers to do as much as he can because the idea that Connor could die is something he does not like thinking about.) This is something he will worry about in this world as well.

► While there are no threads of this in the game, it was agreed between players (Connor's, Markus and Danger's) that Hank went to run with the Androids or sometimes by himself in order to get more fit again after three years of self-loathing and fat and calories needed to be ebbed away.

► Partly due to the conversation above, Hank has met many others interesting individuals in his his few months in Mask and Menace, including sharing a government apartment with an ancient cannibal (Cain, yes that Cain). Interacting with characters makes him a lot less surprised about the idea of a multiverse in general, and has tried to be better thanks to the friends he had there (even if Danger pointed out to him that he is more often than not more friends with androids instead of other humans and it would do him good to be friends with others of his kind).

► He's also witnessed a few major events, and masks being tested during one of the sign-ins (where new heroes promise to protect everyone etc etc etc) caused him to interact strangely with others. He voted for a dog, but really he was voting for the person behind the dog after he had a time to talk with them, people going into space to stop satellites, and godlike teenagers doing concerts where everyone goes semi-crazy (Wicked + Divine Canon)

► As far as life was doing in the game, it was much better than in Detroit. Even if there was a raising hatred of the hero populace as outsiders, Hank had sort of been used to this in Detroit (not directly, but he knew how it affected the androids), and dealt with it accordingly.

« RECORD »

Disposition:
► Trustworthy. Despite all his faults (and there are many), Hank remains steadfast someone you can trust when he tells you he does something or when he's speaking to you. Even if his disciplinary folder is a mess, he doesn't mince words and doesn't have a criminal dossier. He's one of those 'good cops' trusted by most of the Detroit population according to him (he tells Connor at one part "Detroit born and raised. Know most of the people here, or put them in jail. Sometimes both"). He's not a liar, and and you can confide things with him and know he won't go around telling others about it (as long as it's not harming anyone). He tends to go by the 'if they don't harm anyone, then I don't bother them' philosophy, which is why he lets a few grayish things go on in Detroit, such as allowing a friend run a Chicken truck and stay in operation even if it should have been shut down (in exchange of getting free food each day), or allow someone else to run an illegal gambling pool, since no one is really getting harmed from them with the job market so low. Even if Hank has become a shell of the man he was, you can easily tell those around him still look up to him.

► Courageous. Hank was known to be like this before, a little less after Cole's death and his subsequent depression. However, as the game goes on and even in two different paths possible in the game (either with deviant Connor or stays-a-machine Connor) if Hank hasn't given up on humanity (and androids), he is more than willing to be killed so that the revolution goes on.

► Brilliant. It's hard to look at Hank now as being a smart man with his lifestyle choices, but before he decided to turn to the bottle and suppress his emotions, Hank was one of the smartest police offices on the force. He ran the "Red Ice" Anti-task force (think cocaine addiction, but even more addictive) and managed to stop massive shipments of it.

► Hard-Working (but ONLY when he wants to). This was more something before his son's death, but Hank did rise up to be top of his class when graduating, and was the youngest lieutenant in DPD history. You do see glimpses of it in the game if you let Hank go around in certain scenes, picking up the clues that Connor can either pick before or after him (he's just a human, after all, and not as fast as the android).

► Self-Destructive This unfortunate trait started with the death of his son. Cole's death sent Hank into a spiraling depression, and he has spent the last few years mourning, hating humanity, hating androids (this got better) and giving up on life in general. He had also been slowly killing himself with alcohol and food that's bad for his health, hoping that if his game of Russian roulette with a bullet and booze at home doesn't do him in, a heart attack just might. Hank's life is teething on either side, so much so that how Connor reacts around him in the game can either send him into completing his spiral into darkness and commit suicide, or slowly come to terms with his own past and try to make up for it.

► Misconducts. Hank might work for the police, but he's not exactly currently the most exemplary cop there is. Depending on where he was before the previous day, he shows up whenever he feels like it and he's not afraid pointing a gun to a colleague (Gavin Reed) when the latter does the same to Connor. His boss mentions that his misconduct folder at work looks like "a fucking novel".

► Old timer. In a world of clean energy, electrical cars, technology and androids, Hank drives a gas-guzzling non-automatic car that's already ancient in the late 2010's and is a wonder in itself how it manages to still keep going, dresses up in clothing that would for more the 1970s and he hasn't caged in probably over ten years (if not more).

► Bad sense of Humor. Hank's humor is questionable at best, what with his love of stickers on his work desk sprouting such gems as "HOW IS MY DRIVING | CALL: 1-555-IDONTCARE" or "TO AVOID INJURY DON'T TELL ME HOW TO DO MY JOB", to the post-it notes on his mirror. Hank appreciates a good joke in a world that is so negative right now, but has such a dark view on life, it reflects on the quality of them.

Under pressure: Considering he is a detective and had to desculate multiple situations, Hank is very cool under pressure, especially now. While there's still a small risk that something will break him (example an event where you see people you have lost HOU BOY). Additionally, having lived months in Heropa, Hank is, well, not USED to random bullshit happening, but he's not as surprised or out of his league compared to before. Multiverses exist, that's kinda neat.

The fact he has some powers does help a lot too, well until he realizes that he also gets some powers here thanks to the gem on him.

Sumarlok is especially going to give Hank a mode whiplash, considering it's both extremely modern (and as I mentioned in his disposition, he's an old-timer kinda guy bad with technology so I expect him to have issues with it) but also the fact everyone dresses like they came from a time even before him - it won't escape his irony meter. He'll definitely look into the justice system, despite Hank's near retirement age. The best way to understand a government is joining its ranks, and considering this world, as a bonus he can be a hardboiled detective in a modern, sleek city. There's going to be growing pains, that's for certain. How the government reacts to newcomers and their general disposition is going to shape how Hank feels about them as well, and if he'll work with or against them (see how he was okay with helping an android uprising back home because it was the Right Thing To Do).

Expect him to freak out during the events too, especially when they involve natural disasters, in an "I am too f**king old for this" type...and yet also probably being the first in line to help out others.

Condition upon arrival:
Hilariously fitter than if he had arrived from OU canon! Imagine what happens when you have friends who drag you out to work with you...he will also have his tattoo from being marked as a Hero in Mask or Menance.

Abilities:
I've made it a more simplified list of the powers and how they work here. If not for Mask of Menance, Hank would NOT have any powers.

1) Super Strength / Immunity
Note: Super strength/immunity will pull a lot of Manna, even if it is not being used at will.
Quick explanation: In MoM this was considered the "blanket power" meaning it was a few skills that related in a way to each other, a bit like Superman's "blanket power" would be 'Kryptonian' and it includes the powers he has in the comics.

- Hank is able to lift things about 10 times his own weight (about 2000lbs) without much effort
- If he gets attacked physically, he has increased durability, meaning physical attacks don't hurt him as much, or slamming a fist into his stomach might break your hand.
- He can unconsciously turn it on and off if he's thinking about it, but it automatically turns on if he's in danger, or what his body perceives as danger (so word of warning; don't try to frightening Hank).
- The more alcohol he has in his bloodstream, the more durable he becomes. So if he's completely drunk, it might be possible to drop a crane on him and he'd still break the crane and survive. This ability does not save him from typical effects of alcohol (passing out, being drunk, getting sick, terrible next day, possibly screaming about androids not to slam him into the bathroom for an impromptu shower, etc.)
- Magical attacks can bypass the skin durability and probably in-game technology if the mods are so inclined an want more excuses to toy around with him, I'm 100% up to it!

2) Animal Summon / Speech (Dog)
Note: Sumo was there in the game physically and the spell was more of a 'bring Sumo to my location and briefly make him invulnerable' spell, I will make this part unusable until Hank regains him via bonuses.
- When Summo is summoned he has Hank's strength / immunity powers and they return to him once Sumo disappears again.
- Hank is able to understand and speak dog.

3) Power Erasure
NOTE: Power erasure will work on other CRAU and canon powers, but NOT affect Gembond powers
- Once Hank has someone's name/nickname and is in visible range to them, he is able to 'deactivate' a targets power for as long as Hank is thinking and concentrated on them
- This will only deactivate one of the target's powers and Hank must have also seen them do it before, or know about it (for example, if he knows X person can cast fireballs out of their hands, he needs to be close to them, know their name, and know that they have that spell. If they can cast with their feet, they could still do so.
- This power works with only one target at a time, as soon as Hank looks away or is distracted, it stops working.
- Important Note: This power will require approval from the player that Hank is doing it too.
Player Information
Name: Pixle
Age: 21+
Contact: pixle
Other Characters: N/A

Character Information
Name: Hank Anderson
Canon: Detroit Become Human
Canon Point: End Game, Hugging Connor by the Chicken Feed. (for the pathway, please see <ah ref="https://plasticasshole.dreamwidth.org/1480.html">Connor's chart, linked with permission as Hank's parts are only when Connor is around).
Age: 53
History: Hank's Wiki!

Due to the game's branching paths, the link above is to the pathway Hank comes from. To summarize, the Connor in this pathway attempted to friendship in an attempt to work with him better, proceeding with the ignoring the main mission few times when it conflicted with it.

As the cases went on and they saw more events together, Hank and Connor became proper partners and by the end of the game, Hank is more than willing to join Connor, who has become a deviant himself, with an android revolution. You could say that androids gave Hank something he'd lost the past few years, Hope.

Personality: First a tiny bit of history recap to explain his personality;

Hank was fully alive once. Part of Detroit Police Department's finest, he was a true hard-boiled, brilliant and self-sacrificing policeman that many looked up to. Hank had a knack for analyzing and understanding things, and quickly rose in the ranks of the police force; leading an operation to take down Red Ice (think cocaine but deadlier and even more addictive) cartels. His brilliant work made him get promoted as the youngest lieutenant in DPD history. However, the death of his six-year old son from a fatal car crash a few years ago left Hank to what he is now in Personality; a broken shell of a man who had been trying to slowly kill himself, loathing humanity and androids.

His resentment is in large part due to an android that had to operate on his son (and failed) in a life and death situation. However as the game progresses, he explains to Connor that the reason the android operated on his son was only because the human surgeon was too high on red ice to operate. With that in mind;

When one thinks of a fifty year old something detective, typically you'd think grumpy, heavy drinker old man that does what he wants, comes into work when he wants...and with Hank this is pretty much what you'll get. In addition to this, he has ranked up warnings for the past few years for his misconduct, which he doesn't give a fuck about. He's gruff and his mouth is a hidden cache of all sorts of insults he is willing to fling your way if you piss him off. Hank has a dark sense of humor; visible in the many stickers he has on the panel of his work desk and even notes in his bathroom's mirror and in the off-comments he sometimes says.

In a world of clean energy, electrical cars, technology and androids, Hank drives a gas-guzzling non-automatic car that's already ancient in the late 2010's and is a wonder in itself how it manages to still keep going (covered in more stickers of course), listens to hard metal rock (that's already ancient in the 2010s, do you see a pattern here), refuses to have an android, and his house's biggest technological marvel is his...curved TV. He loves books! He has vinyls! In 2030s! He barely cooks, only eats out and eats high caloric foods. He passes out often due to his high alcohol consumption and this leads to his late arrivals which in turn adds more reprimanding and...you probably see the pattern here. His dark descent caused him to become suicidal after his son's untimely death. He has a gun, separate from his work pistol, that has a single bullet. Most nights he plays 'Russian roulette' but is unable to pull the trigger because he's too afraid to do so. If his depression doesn't give him out, his body slowly threatens to do the deed, or his boss will finally fire. Too chickenshit to do it himself. He's a goddamn mess.

Enter the android sent by CyberLife.

Due to all of this and unknown to Hank, his chief gave him the ongoing android deviant cases in the hope of relighting the flames of passion that once drove the lieutenant in being the best at his job. Let's just say that it looked like it was going to be a disaster at first - Hank didn't work well recently with others, but with an android - the very type of 'thing'that Hank blamed for the death of his son; well Connor might be a very expensive prototype, but Hank was not easily swayed. It is hard for anyone to be able to withstand Hank, but Connor somehow managed well. Connor and Hank started to act like a team, and Hank's personality shifted too. Even if he pretended not to care.

At first using It to talk about Androids, Hank slowly started to address them properly as the game goes on, and by the end is fully convinced that they deserve as many rights as humanity. While this quote is not from the same path that I am taking Hank from, there's no doubt this Hank feels the same: "Deviant's blood may be a different color than mine, but they're alive." When Hank is stuck between two Connors at the end of the game; one that has gone deviant and another that hasn't, he's able to guess who is who by the fact Connor shows actual emotion and empathy while talking about Hank's son. Both androids would know Cole's name, but only the Connor he knows would tell Hank it wasn't his fault after what happened (although one can argue how did Hank miss that one had the 51 number and the other had a 60). It helped finally change Hank for the better; a catharsis that he needed to hear. For the past three years, everyone had tried to act around him letting his personality sour, but it was Connor who first told him that it wasn't his fault that Cole had died. Let's just say the androids weren't the only ones who were awoken that day.

By the end of the game, Hank has started to become more the man he used to be...a hard-working officer who is willing to sacrifice himself to aid others, BUT despite the steps in the right direction, it will take a good while for him to fully return to what he was. He gets angry when they are taken off the case, he doesn't mind causing a distraction at the risk of losing his job so that Connor can finish the investigation on his own so that the Android isn't put offline. By now, he thinks of Connor as a partner rather than a tool to be dragged around from crime scene to crime scene, and has a fresher look at both androids and maybe even humanity. Or well, at least towards himself.

However, while someone's self-destruction can be easy, rebuilding takes a lot more time - like the exercises he will need to do to remove all those pounds he gained. Maybe ending up in a place with less technology and magic will help him towards that.

Abilities & Skills:
While Hank is human and nothing special in terms of magical abilities, he does have a few notable above human average skills:
- Strength and Speed: Above Average. (Don't ask him to run a marathon however he's currently out-of-shape, but he can throw a mean punch.)
- Knowledge of interrogation Skills: Hank has a knack for getting information out of someone and learning about others.
- Knowledge of police procedures: As the youngest police officer to attain the rank of lieutenant in the force, he's surprisingly good with paperwork when he isn't trying to destroy himself
- Hand to Hand combat : Police Training
- Weapons and firearms: Police training
- General fighting skills: Police training

Inventory/Companions:
- Sumo: Hank's Saint Bernard dog. It would be a crime to separate him from Hank.
- A coin that he confiscated from Connor and never returned
- His wallet with all of his information and a few credit cards
- His standard issue police gun

Choice: Witch
Reason: Apart from Hank probably making a bunch of jokes about "You're a wizard Hanky" and "putting on my wizard hat", being a witch fits in with challenges that he would both enjoy and dread. When he wasn't a mess of a human being, he was best in his class, great with books and a valedictorian. With wanting to get better in his life, what better way to celebrate with something new entirely?

Having to deal with something that is just a fantasy in his world will be a considerably challenge, but in the end he's also a human, and the idea that magic is real will certainly create interesting situations for him (more so than being a monster, I feel).

Sample: Here</ah>

comments

Part of Detroit Police Department's finest, he was a true hard-boiled and self-sacrificing policeman that many looked up to. Hank had a knack for analyzing and understanding things, and quickly rose in the ranks of the police force; leading an operation to take down Red Ice (think cocaine but deadlier and even more addictive) cartels, and his brilliant work earned him the title of the youngest lieutenant in DPD history. However, the death of his six-year old son from a fatal car crash a few years ago left Hank to what he is now in Personality; a broken shell of a man who had been trying to slowly kill himself, loathing humanity and androids. His resentment is in large part due to an android that had to operate on his son (and failed) in a life and death situation because the doctor who meant to help his son was high on Red Ice.

<strike>This is because David Cage loves MELODRAMA!!!</strike>

So the last three years have left him bitter, turning him into a fifty-three year old grumpy lieutenant as he desperately tries to kill himself a little more each day. He has ranked up warnings for the past few years for his misconducts (which he doesn't give a fuck about). He's gruff and his mouth is a hidden cache of all sorts of insults he is willing to fling anyone's way if they piss him off. He overeats, overdrinks, and plays Russian roulette most nights with a bottle of booze in one hand and a gun in the other (if he's not in the floor first). If the booze doesn't kill him, the mounting paperwork threatens to get him fired each day, or the cholesterol might do him in with a heart attack.

All of this is important to mention because THIS is when Connor shows up in his life, at a bar, interrupting Hank's basketball game as he desperately tried to avoid doing his job (again). Their first case together saw them overseeing a homicide caused in self-defense by an android that Connor was able to piece together as Hank slowly got the clues, just a little slower than his android counterpart. Hank showcased he still had a heart, during the interrogation of the suspect, when he pointed a gun at another police officer that one threatened to shoot Connor. They barely knew each other then. Still Hank thought it would be the end of it; no more mister perfect android robot Sherlock Holmes in his face, back to Cyberlife, and he can go back to hating himself in peace.

He was very, very wrong.

Connor had been created to combat other androids doing deviant, a situation where androids go against their coding and start doing things on their own. Like having emotions. So Hank's reward for the first case was that his chief (and best friend) gives him the ongoing android deviant cases in the hope of relighting the flames of passion that once drove the lieutenant in being the best at his job. Hank fights tooth and nail not to get this job, arguing to his superior's face until he is thrown out (the case or his badge, and Hank isn't that desperate yet to just give up).

It was probably the WORST duo pairing in the history of Detroit, or at least at first anyway. Even when Connor tried to get on Hank's good side by mentioning he liked dogs, or that he listened to Knights of the Black Death, his pushing for Hank to work on the case causes the lieutenant to shove him on the side of a wall, threatening him to throw him in a dumpster if he continues. Hank's current self-destructive behavior didn't work well with others, but with an android - the very type of 'thing' that Hank blamed for the death of his son, it was just any excuse was a good excuse to proclaim how much he didn't want to work with Connor. The android might be a very expensive prototype, but Hank was not easily swayed. Connor cared about the mission, Hank couldn't think like a machine.

However after being given a lead, they are able to locate a fugitive deviant android, Kara, and the child with her at a hotel she had been staying in. Giving case, they end up near a highway with speeding cars and despite Hank's pleads not to try to follow them, Connor does anyway because of his MISSION. He is not successful, but at least Connor isn't dead either.

They end up at a place called Chicken Feed where Hank gets himself lunch. It is hard for anyone to be able to withstand Hank, but Connor somehow manages with his various apology programs, apologizing for his behavior then making comments about Hank's feeding habits and who he hangs out with. When Connor asks him why he was so adamant about not crossing the street, Hank says it is because he could have been killed (even if Connor isn't alive) and then tries to burying that saying he hates doing paperwork, all the while casually looking away.

Slowly but surely, Connor and Hank started to act like a team, and Hank's personality began to shift too, as Connor begins to talk less about his mission. Their next case is given to them via communication to Connor's mind, and they go to a nearby apartment with a suspicion an android might be involved.

Getting inside, they are greeted by PIGEON CITY CENTRAL aka hundreds of pigeons fed by a deviant android. As Hank tries his best to avoid the aviary menace, Connor is able to figure out where their suspect is hiding. It tries to escape, Hank orders Connor to chase after it. This is where change truly begins to happen, as Hank is knocked off a building when he catches up to the android, and left with two choices, Connor decides to help Hank instead of chasing the android. As Connor says he was too slow, Hank tells him they would have caught the android if it wasn't for him. Attempting to thank Connor, Hank stops halfway and just tells him to "forget it."
<strike>
Because Hank is basically the biggest tsunder in all of the game.</strike>

As the cases keep piling up and become more outlandish until it's a full-out android revolution, Hank and Connor act as each other's anchors without realizing it. Hank ends up over-drinking that night as he tends to do, but Connor breaks one of his windows thinking he is dying, forcing him to take a shower, then dragging his drunken body to the next case where a man was killed at the Eden Club (an android sex club) by another deviant android. They do manage to find the deviant using Connor's ability to connect to other androids, and Hank's work card to open the booths for each one, probably with enough 'sessions' to make Jeffery think he participated in an android orgy. In a twist, however, the android was in love with another, and since the man in question had already killed another android, she had been frightened that she was next. Going deviant, she choked him to death. As the two androids escape, Connor does not shoot them, Hank mentioning that it is probably 'better that way'.

They go to the nearby Detroit bridge, where Hank continues to drink himself to oblivion. Hank tells Connor he used to come here often, but doesn't explain why, instead wondering how androids can feel love since both of the girls really seemed to be. Connor and Hank argue a bit about life, what it means to be alive aaaaaand Hank eventually points a gun to Connor's face asking him what he really is, and what happens if he dies. Connor says he can be whatever Hanks wants him to be, but he would also find it regrettable to be interrupted before his investigation is finished. Unable to finish him off, the lieutenant leaves to go buy more alcohol so he can think. But hey, at least he didn't shoot Connor!

Their next case is when the world finds out more about deviant as the Jericho leader Markus makes known his demands for android rights after they infiltrate the television station at the Stratford Tower. Now the deviants have become much larger, and the FBI becomes involved. Hank and Connor investigate as well, but their trail lead them to the top of the tower. It begins to shoot, Hank grabs Connor and tells him they can't save it, Connor decides to try to at least get information from him, but as he connects to the android, it kills itself, causing Connor to feel fear. Connor's 'reward' is a single word; Jericho.

Tensions continue to mount as Markus leads the androids into a peaceful protest. In the hopes of gaining more information, Hank manages to pull some strings to get a meeting with the creator of the androids, Elijah Kamski. Or maybe the android creator was just waiting for it as it comes to a full circle as the man sticks a gun in Connor's hands and asks him to shoot another of his kind in exchange for information. Hank asks Connor not to do it, and amazingly, Connor doesn't. It goes against everything that Connor should be doing.

He makes Hank so proud (Hank go way up). When they end up going back to the station and the case is taken off their hands due to the FBI taking the case over, Connor wants to find the location of Jericho, thinking that the clues they have found during the last few cases might give him the information that they need. Hank casually suggests that they might be fighting on the wrong side, but Connor tells him it could become chaos and then asks Hank for his help. Hank makes his choice then and decides to help him out as he would have any partner, be they android or human.

And thus Hank punches the FBI guy straight on the nose and it is a great time for all (except the FBI agent).

Thanks to his help, Connor finds Jericho's location, but Hank has no idea. So when he leaves, Cyberlife has one hast trick up their sleeves in case Connor goes deviant (and he does), and a bit later by another copy of Connor tricks him into following him to the Cyberlife Tower where thousands of androids are being kept that could turn the tide of the protest. Connor (the deviant one) wants to awaken them. Cyberlife does not want that, of course.

As the two Connors face off, the original Connor chooses to save Hank over the revolution, and Hank slams into the copy of Connor to disarm him. Both androids end up fighting each other and then Hank and has to decide which one is his partner and which one is a sack of shit (his words).

Finally he realizes who is who when his Connor shows emotion and empathy while talking about Hank's son. Both androids would know Cole's name, but only the Connor he knows would tell Hank it wasn't his fault after what happened. The evil clone is shot, androids are awoken, Hank goes who knows where and we only see Connor and Hank together again a while later when they hug at the Chicken Feed Shack.

By the end of it, Hank has started to become more the man he used to be...a hard-working officer who is willing to sacrifice himself to aid others, but it will take a good while for him to fully return to what he was. He thinks of Connor as a partner rather than a tool to be dragged around from crime scene to crime scene, and has a fresher look at both androids and maybe even humanity. Or well, at least towards himself.

Abilities/Special Powers:
While Hank is human and nothing special in terms of magical abilities, he does have a few notable, more normal abilities.
- Strength and Speed: Above Average. (Don't ask him to run a marathon however he's currently out-of-shape)

Third-Person Sample:
He knew he shouldn't be surprised to see the place had changed again, but what really worried Hank is that despite the insanity of the place, there was something...missing. Had days passed? That didn't make much sense, but it seemed like the most logical answer. It was almost amusing (if one could call this place amusing anyway) that he was now pinching his nose to make sure he was here, because he sure as fuck was pretty certain that his room didn't quite look like this yesterday.

"Jesus Christ," he muttered, sighing as he looked around. "Don't tell me I somehow ended up being part of a fucking production of Sleeping Beauty."

He didn't remember anything special happening either. His first reaction, after finally dragging his sorry self out of bed, was to get out and see if at the very least he wasn't the only one who was still here from his own world. For perhaps as much as Hank thought this place was possibly making him turn a little more mad each day, the idea of being here alone after all of this weight on him.

Not that he'd admit it, of course.

"Fuck, what I would't give to have Sumo around to make this place feel a little more normal."

Being a grump about it always worked better anyway.

First-Person Sample: Here is Hank's intro log and Here is Hank judging robots in aprons

comments

The first link under each chapter is to a full walkthrought of that chapter with all the endings, below that is the path picked for that chapter from Hank's point of view.

Chapter 06 - Partners
- Full pathway
- Connor arrives at the bar Hank was drinking
- Connor buys Hank a drink and explains he's here to aid him on a nearby homicide
- Connor and Hank arrive at the homicide scene
- Connor and Hank discuss the crime and scene, after Connor gathers evidence of the crime and what happened
- Connor finds the Android responsible for the murder in the attic

Chapter 09 - The Interrogation
- Full pathway
- Hank attempts to interrogate the android from the previous scenario, but fails
- Connor takes over and manages to successfully interrogate the Android and obtain a confession
- The android starts to become stressed when he is ordered to be lead away, and Connor tells the police to stop touching him. color:#fff; padding:2px; padding-left:12px; padding-right:12px; font-family:'Palatino Linotype', 'Book Antiqua', Palatino, serif ; font-size:24px; font-weight:bold"> Chapter 20 - The Eden Club
- Full pathway
- Hank and Connor investigate the murder at the Eden Club, a sex club that only has androids
- Connor is able to trace the deviant's path by connecting with other androids at the sex club, however this does require Hank to pay each time, making it an interesting story to explain at work in the next few days
- Connor and Hank find out that there is not one but two deviants, who were in love with each other and wanted to escape
- Connor loses the fight with the deviants, who escape after explaining their situation
- Connor doesn't shoot them down as they run away despite having the ability to do so

Chapter 22 - The Bridge
- Full pathway
- Hank and Connor have a conversation outside of the Ambassador Bridge
- Connor asks him to stop drinking and also questions why he's so determined to kill himself
- Connor and Hank discuss what may tie the cases together
- Hank begins to question himself about the deviants. The two girls back at the club seemed to be in love, but Connor points out that machines can't feel anything
- Hank asks Connor who he is and if he's afraid to die and points a gun at his head (not his proudest moment)
- Connor says he can be whatever Hanks wants him to be, but he would also find it regrettable to be interrupted before his investigation is finished
- Hank cannot shoot Connor, and leaves to go buy more booze to think

Chapter 24 - Public Enemy
- Full pathway
- Hank and Connor investigate a scene at The Stratford Tower, where another deviant android, Markus, caused a scene but putting the deviant's case forward live on a major network. Because this now involves national security, the FBI becomes involved
- The investigation leads them to the roof, where one of the deviant androids, Simon, was hiding due to his injuries
- Connor finding him, leading to a shootout
- Hank tells Connor not to move as the other cops and FBI will no doubt shoot Simon down
- Connor ignores the orders and manages to dodge the bullets and connect with Simon (just like he had done at the Eden Club) briefly seeing the word 'Jericho' before Simon takes his own life
- Hank gets angry at Connor for ignoring him (again) but Connor's reaction that he could sense the other dying and he felt fear begins to make him even more doubtful if they are doing the right thing

Chapter 27 - Meet Kamski
- Full pathway
- Hank and Connor meet Kamiski, the original creator of the androids
- After waiting for a bit, Kamiski meets with them and starts to talk about philosophy
- Hank gets annoyed enough to mention they will leave if Kamiski has nothing to offer, but Kamiski has other plans and decides to perform a 'Kamiski' test on Connor
- Kamiski explains, after handing Connor a gun and talking about how the model of android in front of him was the original android that passed the turning test, is to kill said android, and in exchange he'll give him the information he knows, aiding him in Connor's mission
- Connor refuses to shoot the android and hands him the gun back
- After they leave, Hank asks him why he didn't shoot. Connor, becoming even more emotional, says he's not sure but he couldn't do it after seeing the Android's eyes
- Hank, smiling to himself, crypitcally says he might have done the right thing

Chapter 29 - Last Chance, Connor
- Full pathway
- Hank and Connor are taken off the investigation as the FBI takes over
- Connor explains that since he failed, he'll probably be taken apart to see why he couldn't complete his mission
- Connor asks Hank to hold back the FBI so he can find more information from the evidence they collected to find where Jericho is
- Hank gives Connor enough time by punching the FBI agent and causing a distraction
- Connor obtains the location to Jericho and leaves after fighting Gavin

Chapter 32 - Battle For Detroit
- (No pathway can be provided for this one, sorry)
- After Connor gets into other situations and becomes a deviant in the process (which is super important, but not part of Hank's story), Hank finally meets him again in the CyberLife tower
- Connor was there to convert the androids there to 'awaken' then and make then deviants and increase their numbers dramatically and sway the tide of the ongoing human vs android battle
- Hank was taken as a hostage by another Connor model, and since they look exactly the same, he had not realized this until it was too late
- The Other Connor makes Deviant Connor pick between saving Hank or continue the conversion for the revolution. However since they share memories, Other Connor know that Hank is important to Deviant Connor
- Predictably, Connor picks Hank despite Hank telling him not to
- Hank elbows Other Connor, both Connors fight each other
- Hank has to pick which one is Deviant Connor out of the two. Deviant Connor suggests asking questions that only he'd know
- However since the Other Connor has all of Connor's memories, Hank looks for which Android is displaying empathy as he asks two questions to the same Connor (especially after what happened at Kamiski's)
- After Deviant Connor correctly guesses that Hank's son's name is Cole but then goes into how his son't death wasn't Hank's fault, the two have a small heart to heart about the situation, red ice, surgeons and androids
- Hank shoots Other Connor and lets Deviant Connor continue on with converting all the androids in the Cyberlife tower
- No one really knows what Hank did after that. Maybe gather Sumo and evacuate

End
- Post battle for Detroit at an undetermined time later (probably a few days later), Hank and Connor SHARE A HUG.
- It's adorable

<strike>

Third-Person Sample:
After what had happened in Detroit, Hank didn't think he could be surprised about anything the universe might throw his way. He just didn't fucking think that being whisked off into another universe was something he should put in his list of potential events that might happen to him.

Hindsight was 20/20.

"What the hell..." he could only help but mutter as he wakes up in a room that is way too clean and well set up for it to be anywhere he's known. "Shit, I'm pretty sure I'm not dead but..." But, well, what the fuck else could this place be? Maybe he had a heart attach hugging Connor or some shit. Wouldn't that be the most fucking ironic thing that ever happened to his life? Finally, after three fucking years of self loathing, the cholesterol finally gets him when he's feeling a smidgen of happiness and where the earth, humanity and androids were heading. Was this heaven or hell? Maybe he's in purgatory. That would explain the fact he didn't see Cole around anywhere, but the fact it didn't smell like burning sulfur either. If that was how Hell operated anyway.

The lack of dog hair makes him a little uneasy as well. As much as the mutt gave him trouble, Sumo was as much Hank's family now any human. A quick check of his pockets confirmed he still had everything he had on himself when he went out to meet Connor, for what little comfort that gave him. What he wouldn't do to see that dumb goofy android face in front of him, maybe he'd be able to explain it.

"Well if I'm dead and this is the afterlife, it's a big damn fucking disappointment," he yells out to no one in particular, hoping that maybe whatever power was listening in and take some notes. They'd need to know that their service was pretty shit. Not even a welcome pamphlet or a beer. He sighs, the creeping realization that he wouldn't get any answers unless he walked out. Adjusting the coat he still had on him, Hank groaned before he slammed the door open and spoke to the nearest poor person who was close by.

"Hey yeah uh...mind tellin' me what the fuck this place is?"

First-Person Sample: An CRAU Hank on the 4th wall, but still a Hank just with additional RP baggage and powers. Personally wise, he's 100% the same.

comments

Zhautas Permission Post

GENERAL PERMISSIONS
Backtagging: Always go for it I will backtag to eternity!
Threadhoping: Go for it! If you aren't 100% sure don't hesitate to contact me.
Hugging: Sure but he will be confused
Kissing: Even more confused.
Fighting: Yes. Please fight Hank.
Injuring: See above!
Killing: Sure! Let's talk first.

MASK OF MENACE CRAU - POWER ERASURE PERMISSION POST
Since Hank is a CRAU from Mask or Menace, he has three super powers. However the one important to this permission post is he can temporary (for 10 minutes) remove someone's post. The rules are as follows;

- This will only deactivate one of the target's powers and Hank must have also seen them do it before, or know about it (for example, if he knows X person can cast fireballs out of their hands, he needs to be close to them, know their name, and know that they have that spell. Then Person X would still be able to cast fire out of their feet if they had that spell.)
- This power works with only one target at a time, as soon as Hank looks away or is distracted, it stops working.
- ANOTHER NOTE; in MoM this power also had the ability to change an Android into a human (because being an android was considered a "blanket power"). So if you ever dreamed of your droid to be briefly human, it can happen. note that Hank HATES doing that since he was friends with a lot of androids in MoM it's akin to removing what makes them...them? Yeah.

If this interests you, please fill out this form!

<B>Name:</b>
<b>Character:</b>
<b>Temporary Power Loss okay?:</b> Yes or No
<b>Notes</b> (If any, say you don't want him to remove a certain power, I can make sure it never happens).

comments

Hello friends! Due to the fact that Hank comes from 1985 and the game takes place in the 'very real' world, this presents a unique opportunity for Hank to recognize certain fandoms and characters. Granted this will not be everyone, as Hank wasn't too much into anime, but popular movies, certain games and maybe even a few characters might get recognized, but hey at least we'll be able to figure out if he did or not and talk it out!

Thank you!

<B>Name:</b>

Application - MOM

CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Hank Anderson
CHARACTER AGE: 53
CANON ORIGIN: Detroit: Become Human
CHRONOLOGY: End of the game, post hug. The full pathway is here
CLASS: Hero
HOUSING: Is possible the same house or close to where Connor is

BACKGROUND: Hank's Wiki!

Due to the game's branching pathers as noted above I have made the full pathway but the gist of it is that while Connor was more of a machine at the start, as their cases and the scoop of what was happening pilled up, Hank saw Connor more and more as a someone important to the point where he believes that Connor is just as 'alive' as humans. Then there's a tender hug shared at the end.

PERSONALITY:
First a tiny bit of history to explain his personality;

Hank was fully alive once. Part of Detroit Police Department's finest, he was a true hard-boiled, brilliant and self-sacrificing policeman that many looked up to. Hank had a knack for analyzing and understanding things, and quickly rose in the ranks of the police force; leading an operation to take down Red Ice (think cocaine but deadlier and even more addictive) cartels, and his brilliant work earned him the title of the youngest lieutenant in DPD history. However, the death of his six-year old son from a fatal car crash a few years ago left Hank to what he is now in Personality; a broken shell of a man who had been trying to slowly kill himself and loathing humanity and androids. This is due to the fact that an android had to operate on his son (and failed) but later we find out the only reason the android operation on his son was because the surgeon was too high on red ice to operate, something that Hank later comes to terms with. With that in mind;

When one thinks of a fifty year old detective, typically you'd think grumpy old man who does what he wants, heavy drinker that comes in when he wants...and with Hank this is pretty much what you'd get. He arrives at work whenever he feels like it, and has ranked up warnings for the past few years for his misconduct, which he doesn't give a fuck about. He's gruff and his mouth is a hidden cache of all sorts of insults he is willing to fling your way if you piss him off. Hank has a dark sense of humor; visible in the many stickers he has on the panel of his work desk and even notes in his bathroom's mirror, or in the off-comments he sometimes says.

He passes out often due to his high alcohol consumption. His dark descent cause him to become suicidal as mentioned above, and has a gun, separate from his work pistol that has a single bullet which he looks at each night, unable to pull the trigger because he's too afraid to do so. If his depression doesn't give him out, his body slowly threatens to do the deed. He's a mess.

Enter the android sent by CyberLife.

Due to all of this and unknown to Hank, his chief gave him the ongoing android deviant cases in the hope of relighting the flames of passion that once drove the lieutenant in being the best at his job. Let's just say that it looked like it was going to be a disaster at first - Hank didn't work well recently with others, but with an android - the very type of 'thing'that Hank blamed for the death of his son; well Connor might be a prototype, but Hank was not easily swayed. It is hard for anyone to be able to withstand Hank, but Connor somehow managed well. Slowly but surely, Connor and Hank started to act like a team, and Hank's personality shifted too.

At first using It to talk about Androids, Hank slowly started to addressing them properly as the game goes on, and by the end is fully convinced that they deserves as much rights as humanity. Both androids would know Cole's name, but only the Connor he knows would tell Hank it wasn't his fault after what happened.

By the end of the game, Hank has started to become more the man he used to be...a hard-working officer who is willing to sacrifice himself to aid others, but it will take a good while for him to fully return to what he was. He gets angry when they are taken off the case, he doesn't mind causing a distraction at the risk of losing his job so that Connor can finish the investigation on his own so that the Android isn't put offline. He thinks of Connor as a partner rather than a tool to be dragged around from crime scene to crime scene, and has a fresher look at both androids and maybe even humanity. Or well, at least towards himself.

However while someone's self-destruction can be easily, rebuilding takes a lot more time - an exercise to remove all those pounds he gained. Maybe ending up in a place with less technology and magic will help him towards that.

POWER:
Super Strength / Immunity
- This is going to be Hank's umbrella power

- Hank will be a able to lift things about 10 times his own weight (so about 2000lbs) without much effort
- Additionally, if he gets attacked physically, he will be a lot more durable (Organic Durability - think a bit like Colossus skin, but without the metallic effect). He can unconsciously turn it on and off if he's thinking about it, but it automatically happens if he's in danger, or what his body perceives as danger (so word of warning; don't try to frightening Hank)
- Magical attacks will bypass this, this only affects phystical attacks. Lightsabers would still hurt him, for example, while a sword might shatter.

- As a note and because I'm a terrible person, the drunker he gets, the more durable he is (strength is barely affected). So if he downs a 40% rum, his skin would become extremely hard and durable. However, this won't save him for typical effects of alcohol (aka passing out, being drunk, getting sick, terrible next day, possibly screaming about androids not to slam him into the bathroom for an impromptu shower, etc.)

Animal Summon / Speech (Dog)
- Since Hank without Sumo is a mistake upon humanity, Sumo will be summonable for attacking...which he's not all that great as but still.
- When Sumo is summoned, he 'borrows' Hank's Strength and Immunity powers (during this time, Hank is a lot more vulnerable)
- Sumo is the best dog.
- Additionally, Hank can speak to dogs and understand dog language.

Temporary Powerloss to others (power erasure)
- Once Hank has someone's name/nickname and is in visible range to them, he is able to 'deactivate' for a short time, or at least while they are in visible range, a target's power. For now, this will only deactivate one of those powers, and Hank must have also seen them do it before, or knows about it (for example, if he knows X person can summon wolves, he needs to be close to them, know their name, andk now that they have a wolf power to be able to deactivate it.
- Only one target at a time

- Note: This power will require approval from the player that Hank is doing it too. I'll also provide a sign-up post in case people just want to have a blanket approval instead of me asking for each thread.

comments

Due to the fact that Hank was born in 1985, and the game takes place in the 'very real' world of year 2038, this presents a unique opportunity for Hank to recognize certain fandoms and characters. The full pathway is here

Background: Hank's Wiki!

Due to the game's branching paths as noted above I have made the full pathway listed. To summarize, the Connor in this pathway was a lot more machine-like early on, proceeding with the mission and ignore Hank's orders a few times when it conflicted with it. Connor also chose to ignore attempting to save Hank's life on the rooftop which got him really angry at the android.

However as the cases went on and they saw more events together, Hank and Connor became proper partners and by the end of the game, Hank is more than willing to let Connor, who has become a deviant himself, help with an android revolution. You could say they basically opened each other's eyes.

Personality:
First a tiny bit of history to explain his personality;

Hank was fully alive once. Part of Detroit Police Department's finest, he was a true hard-boiled, brilliant and self-sacrificing policeman that many looked up to.

His resentment is in large part due to an android that had to operate on his son (and failed) in a life and death situation. However as the game progresses, he explains to Connor that the reason the android operated on his son was only because the human surgeon was too high on red ice to operate. With that in mind;

When one thinks of a fifty year old detective, typically you'd think grumpy, heavy drinker old man that does what he wants, comes into work when he wants...and with Hank this is pretty much what you'd get. In addition to this, he has ranked up warnings for the past few years for his misconduct, which he doesn't give a fuck about. He's gruff and his mouth is a hidden cache of all sorts of insults he is willing to fling your way if you piss him off. Hank has a dark sense of humor; visible in the many stickers he has on the panel of his work desk and even notes in his bathroom's mirror, or in the off-comments he sometimes says.

He passes out often due to his high alcohol consumption and this leads to his late arrivals which leads to his reprimanding and...you probably see the pattern here. He's a mess.

Enter the android sent by CyberLife.

Due to all of this and unknown to Hank, his chief gave him the ongoing android deviant cases in the hope of relighting the flames of passion that once drove the lieutenant in being the best at his job. Slowly but surely, Connor and Hank started to act like a team, and Hank's personality shifted too.

Abilities:
While Hank is human and nothing special in terms of magical abilities, he does have a few notable, more normal abilities.
- Strength and Speed: Above Average. (Don't ask him to run a marathon however he's currently out-of-shape)

Alignment: Piphron. If you ever wanted to know hat would Piphron look like if he was a non-crabby form, Hank is the answer. Old, grumpy, likes being left to his own devices, just by similar personality they fit well. However it is Hank's distrust of androids and mankind in general makes him a prime candidate for a crabby Arehtei, and like the other, his slow but regrowing trust of others again is going to become more and more positive.

Also he's going to call him Mr.Crabs (or maybe with a K if he's being a dick). YOU CAN'T STOP ME.

Other:
- Hank's password quality in the evidence room at the police station is FUCKINGPASSWORD this is a legit 100% canon thing (to quote Connor; "of course it is").

⌈ SAMPLE SECTION ⌉

General Sample:Thread with Connor

Emotion Sample: His own post with emotion moodshirt

Questions: Nope

comments
