[And he hoped Hank wouldn't be too concerned about what he was planning on doing.]

[Spoilers: Hank would be concerned, no matter what. Still, he was going to be himself no matter what.]

What type of importance are we talking about, Connor?

[That was basically an invitation for him to just tell Hank, wasn't it?]

You may have seen a message about a week back, someone was going to try to travel to the planet and was asking if there was anyone on board who might be able to accompany them. I volunteered. We're planning to go tomorrow.

[Why did this feel like he was apologizing?]

[In theory Hank gets it. Connor's not exactly human; he doesn't need to breathe, and he's good for analyzing things to various degrees.

Of course reason and emotions are two different things, and his face quickly becomes a mixture of worry and frowning. It takes him a short bit before he replies anything back.]

Are you insane Connor?! No one knows what the fuck's down there! What happens if you get injured?

Even if I am damaged, anything I record can be retrieved and used. Alucard, the doctor here, has a copy of my manual. If I am damaged, I'm hopeful that he'll be able to help repair me.

I think it's important to explore the planet and, since I don't have the same requirements that humans do, I thought it would be appropriate to volunteer.

I'll be careful, Lieutenant. And I'm not going alone.

[Well, Hank had immediately seen through that empty reassurance. Even with his manual, there were no spare parts here, though the replicator could produce thirium. Still, major damage would likely be less than ideal.]

I will. I promise.

[It wasn't really a promise he could make, but he did so regardless.]

Yeah you better cause I'll be holding you up to it!!!!!

[He knew, hell, he was pretty certain Connor also knew that this type of promise was never assured, but of course he'd deal it the Hankish way - vague threats that just show to the other he actually cared enough about him.]
